How we are Governed

Welcome Message from Linda Rodham, Chief Executive Officer

I am delighted to introduce myself as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of New College Durham Academies Trust. As CEO I will have the key strategic role in the leadership of this Trust providing strategic direction for the Corporate Team as well as monitoring the effectiveness of individual academies leadership teams.

I have been a Headteacher for ten years and I have substantial experience of school improvement. I am looking forward to the challenges of this new role and this includes supporting the current schools in the Trust with their journey of improvement.

My vision is clear, I intend to make sure every school in the Trust offers the minimum of a good education to the children of the communities they serve. Community is very important to me and I want to develop a successful Trust for Durham children.

Developing educational collaboration is important to the Trust, across both schools as well as regionally and nationally with other educational providers. By being an outward facing Trust we will ensure that our students have access to first class learning and staff have access to the best professional development, in order to facilitate successful outcomes for our students. We are determined to provide the very best education for our students and our immediate priority is to rapidly accelerate student outcomes in both of our schools.

A message from our CEO Linda Rodham

Consett Academy (CA) is part of New College Durham Academies Trust (NCDAT). The Trust is governed by a Board of Directors/Members who are responsible for the administration of the Trust and for the academic performance of the schools within the Trust.

The Local Governing Body (LGB) of CA operates as a committee of the Trust Board. The LGB meets twice each term to consider key aspects of the Academy and challenge the Principal and senior leadership team. The Principal’s Report, Finance, Human Resources, Business, ICT and Health and Safety are standing items on the agenda.

Membership of the LGB comprises up to six Lead Sponsor governors, one co-sponsor governor, two parent governors and two staff governors.

Governors are actively involved in the school and visit regularly. Each governor is linked to a specific aspect of the Academy’s work. We facilitate governor training so that governors are up to date with the constant changes in education.

Please see NCDAT website for more information regarding our governance.
