Working in line with Teacher’s Standards and Academy values, you will continue the upward trend in this crucial core subject by contributing to raising standards of attainment for students across all Key Stages, to ensure continuous improvement whilst maximising their potential.
Late MPS / UPS candidates:
As a top end MPS / UPS teacher you will have a strong track record of performance with both KS4 and KS5 chemistry and be able to secure excellent engagement and results for pupils. As a chemistry specialist, an additional payment (TLR2b) may be available for an exceptional candidate who can support curriculum design / implementation in their subject area while leading on development of S.T.E.M. curriculum.
Early MPS / Early Careers Candidates:
If you are a new chemistry teacher that has shown potential to grow and develop becoming an outstanding teacher, we strongly recommend applying to be part of a developing science department at Consett Academy. Again, an additional TLR2b allowance may be available for an exceptional candidate who despite being early in their career, can support planning / implementation of the chemistry curriculum through demonstrating excellent subject knowledge. Over time with support from colleagues, you would also start to lead on S.T.E.M.
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate high professional standards in teaching and learning, whilst simultaneously driving forward continuous improvement in student outcomes at all levels.
Applicants will have high aspirations with the ability to engage, enthuse and motivate students resulting in a positive impact on student attainment and progress.
As well as excellent communication skills, you must have high expectations of students. You will consistently model excellent practice and have student achievement and progress at the forefront of your practice.
